Adoption is a beautiful fusion of separate lives into one family. However, just as a grafted plant needs ongoing attention to make the joining successful, so too do the parents and children brought together by adoption. The fusing of families requires care, protection and nurturing. When it is done with love and support, the flowering of parents and child is a beautiful sight to behold.
Adoptive Family Support Network (AFSN) is the gardener of adoption in our community. They support and nurture parents and children as they grow together into a strong, healthy family. They do this by providing a network of support, education, information and referral for any adoptive family or anyone considering adoption as a way to build their family. Visit www.afsn.org for additional information.
Michigan Heart Gallery 2011
What a great evening at the West Michigan Premier of the MI Heart Gallery 2011, a photographic exhibit representing some of the more than 5,000 children awaiting adoption in the Michigan foster care system.
Eight beautiful and sweet foster girls treated us to a
delightful fashion show featuring today's stylish prom gowns.
The food was fantastic--
the white chocolate covered cake balls were a hit!
The company was enjoyable and conversations were light!
Don't miss next year's event!

On May 21, 2011 at Resurrection Life Church over 400 people came together
to hear about the kids who are waiting, the process of adoption from foster care and ways to support adoptive families.

Can you imagine being a kid without parents?
In Michigan alone, more than 4,600 children and youth are waiting in the foster care system for adoptive families. Michigan has more than 11,000 churches, and God has given clear commands for Christians to take care of His orphan children.
So if the command is clear and the need is apparent,
why are these kids still waiting?
So come explore what the Lord may be asking you to do.Together we can ensure that no child in Michigan is waiting for someone to call mom or dad.
I need someone to help me with my homework.
I need to talk to someone who understands guy stuff.
I want to go to a family picnic where I am family.
No one fights for me.
Doesn't anybody care?
I want a dad who will teach me how to spiral a football.
Time is running out, soon I won't be a kid anymore...maybe then I won't want a mom or dad so badly anymore.
Christians have a clear command to care for orphans, and there are many ways to get involved— praying, giving, mobilizing your church or adopting. Whichever you decide, we’ll provide guidance and support as you walk down this incredibly rewarding path. Our hope is that you begin to see the face of Christ in these children.
I'm so lonely.

Hey West Michigan, THANK YOU for making
ADOPTION DAY WITH THE WHITECAPS a big success!
On Sunday August 21 at 1 PM adoptive families and professionals from across Michigan took part in a community event to raise awareness for adoption. There are Michigan children who need a place to call home!
We come together to make the voices of children who need families a bit louder. Listen to the call, to do whatever you can, to make adoption happen for these kids.
