Ryan and Lisa

Hello! We are Ryan and Lisa. We may not have met yet, but we’ve been praying for you daily and can’t wait to meet both you and your little one someday. Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and learn a little more about us. We will never fully be able to understand how much you are going through right now, but we want you to know that you are so brave and so incredibly loved. What a blessing you are!

Our Story:
As individuals, we have both felt led to adopt since a young age. Once we met, we both shared our love and guidance towards adoption, which made us fall even harder for each other and become so excited for the future and what’s to come with our growing family. We both have such a strong love for kids and couldn’t wait to share that experience together! So here we are.

Our love story started in 2014, when a mutual friend set us up on a blind date. I’d say we were both pretty nervous hardly knowing anything about each other, but we trusted our friend, took a leap of faith, and met at a coffee shop. Our next date was just supposed to be a walk and picnic but continued all day with adding in smoothies, Craig’s Cruisers, and dinner. We really enjoyed each other’s company and were already planning our third date to go to a haunted house – which is where we officially fell in love. We were engaged 7 months later and married 4 short months after that. Ryan proposed while we were paddle boarding at his family lake house, which is why we chose to get married at that same spot in their backyard on the water. It was an intimate and beautiful fall wedding with family and our closest friends.

Both of us knew we wanted to start a family right away. We were ready! But it didn’t come as easy as we thought it would… We struggled getting pregnant, and when we did, we miscarried every time. We prayed and prayed and knew God was telling us that now was the time for adoption and that’s how we were supposed to grow our family. Shortly after starting the adoption journey, we became pregnant again and are expecting in May 2020. This does NOT stop us from continuing adoption. We want you to know that there is no difference between the child in Lisa’s womb and the child we are waiting to be matched with. They will be equally loved and cared for and meant to be in our lives. In fact, we have always thought we might have twins and if this is how that is coming to fruition, then we are ready and excited regardless of any age gap between them.

Our Occupations:
Ryan grew up playing sports with his main passion being golf and basketball. He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in 2006-2007. Ryan is now in Real Estate Development as a Project Manager. He and his team build mixed-use developments with medical offices, retail buildings, and restaurants.

Lisa grew up trying just about every sport under the sun but found her primary talent in gymnastics & dance and competed nationally. Lisa is now a Commercial Real Estate Agent and fills the developments that Ryan is working on with tenants. We work for separate companies but get to work together which we really enjoy.

After placement Lisa will take 8-10 weeks off and Ryan will take 1 week off. Our schedules are flexible, and Ryan’s office is less than 5 minutes from our house and comes home for lunch most days. After leave, Lisa works from home and will be able to be with the kids, but when there are work meetings outside of the home, we’re able to coordinate help with family members and church friends. We also plan to investigate a day care plan for two days a week if it becomes necessary.

Our interests:
We are active and full of energy! The great outdoors is where we spend a lot of our time. In the summers, we enjoy spending our weekends at one of our parent’s lake houses. Lisa’s mom and stepdad live on a lake and Ryan’s parents have a lake house not too far from it. There, we spend quality time with family, go for boat rides, water ski/wakeboard, and lots of paddle boarding with our 6-yr. old German Shepherd/Lab mix named Zola. Lisa’s dad and stepmom live on the east side of the state, but we have the opportunity to see them quite often. We also enjoy camping and backpacking and going on day hikes to explore God’s beautiful country. In the winters, we enjoy snowshoeing and heading out West to snowboard. We can’t wait to take our little ones to the slopes and teach them to ski or board (if they like it!)

Our family:
We love spending time with family. Both of us have siblings who are married with kids. Ryan’s brother (Jason married to Amanda) has two kids who are 12 (Hannah) and 16 (Evan), and Lisa has a sister (Val married to Ricky) who has a 2-year-old son (Ricky Jay) and baby on the way! Lisa’s two step sisters (Sara and Sheena) both have children (ages 4 (Brayden), 12 (Elijah), and 16 (Kiana)). There are also lots of cousins and family festivities to keep life busy and fun.

We helped launch a new church! Our closest friends, who also officiated our wedding, wanted to start their own church with the help of friends. We hopped on board and were part of the launch team and have been serving in the nursery with all the wild and fun 2-5-year old kiddos. Our church family is a huge part of our lives. It is a big crowd with A LOT of kids, which makes get-togethers a whole lot of fun!

Giving back:
Ryan introduced Lisa to an organization in India that’s been a part of his life for a long time. We try to make this an annual trip between the two of us and have traveled to India twice together to support a children’s orphanage, adult literacy programs, children’s after school programs, and church planting. India has become a very special part of our lives. We also support a few local organizations that we feel passionate about. Ryan has the biggest heart and would give all he had to help others.

Thank you again for taking the time to learn more about us and considering us as part of your adoption plan. We can’t wait to share our love and life with this precious little one who will someday be chosen to be in our lives – but we also want them to know you and where they came from and we are committed to building that relationship.

God has a plan for everything – it may not always be the plan we thought we had for ourselves, but in the end, it always turns out to be greater than our own. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knows it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
