We desire to have an open adoption and If you choose us we look forward to you continuing to be a part of the child’s life. We honor whatever decision you choose to make for your child and pray that you find peace in it.
Below is our story and we hope that you discover our love for life and each other through our words and pictures. We have so much love in our hearts to give and cannot wait to raise a family together.
Chris and Christina Taylor
We met four years ago downtown at the B.O.B. while watching a band perform. We felt an instant connection and decided to have coffee together. From then on we went on fun dates, ran a half-marathon, and got to know each other’s friends and family members. We were married in May of 2015. To this day we still feel in love and are always learning new things about each other. We are each other’s support system and confidant and would not have it any other way.
Chris is a music teacher for Kindergarten through 8th graders and is going back to school to complete his Master’s in Educational Leadership. He hopes to one day be a principal. Christina is a Pediatric ICU nurse at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. We both love working with children and feel blessed to have the jobs we do. We feel passionate about each child’s education and right to healthcare.
We love our life together but there is a part that is still missing. We would love to raise children together! We had discussed the possibility of adopting to grow our family even before we were married. Now we that have had issues with infertility we feel that God was preparing our hearts for this opportunity even back then. We are very excited to raise a family together!
Chris grew up with three sisters and one bathroom so he learned the value of patience early on in his life. He grew up playing guitar, golfing, and singing in choir.
Christina grew up with two brothers so she learned the value of grabbing the food you want to eat before it’s all gone. She grew up playing the piano, soccer, and cheerleading.
We both were raised by amazing sets of parents who taught us how to love life and others. They led great examples of hard-work, showing kindness to all people, and raising healthy families.
Both of our parents still live up north in our childhood homes. Chris’ parents are retired and enjoy golfing and spending time with their grandkids (currently there are six of them). Christina’s parents still work full-time and they enjoy taking long walks with their dogs.
We enjoy spending holidays, birthdays and other fun outings with our families. Even though some members are long distance we make an effort to keep in close contact and spend time together.
We have lived in our home for almost 3 years now. We love our neighborhood and surrounding community. Our neighbor’s kids play together at the park or in backyards freely. We have bonfires and go on annual trips together. We live near schools, parks, and the library.
We are also blessed to have an amazing network of friends. Some we have known since our childhood years and some we have met along the way but the ties are all strong. We have supported each other through losses and triumphs in each other’s lives. They are all very excited about our approval to be adoptive parents through Greater Hopes.
Our interests and hobbies…
Chris enjoys wood working, home improvement, and gaming. Christina enjoys crafts, running, and spending time with girlfriends.
Together we have had some fun adventures. We have trained for and ran two half-marathons. We have enjoyed traveling to other states and to Mexico. Most recently we are finishing our basement remodeling project which has been both challenging and rewarding to accomplish together. We currently have date night every other week and plan on continuing as our family grows. Chris plans the date nights and they are usually a surprise dinner or outing.
We attend Georgetown Christian Reformed Church on a regular basis and feel blessed to have made friendships there. We both volunteer at the church, Chris plays guitar for the music team and Christina is a leader for the 1st-5th grade girl’s program.
We have three cats: Booger, Q, and Squirt. We adopted them from different shelters at different times but they all get along really well. They are playful and make us laugh a lot at their mannerisms.
We appreciate your time and consideration in making us a part of your adoption plan. We hope to someday have the opportunity to meet you and get to know you. Thank you!
