Before you apply to adopt, you must attend an Orientation Meeting. Discussion topics include types of adoption programs, children served through adoption, the adoption process, current laws, agency policies, fees, and information regarding support services available. Time is provided for questions. There is no charge to attend these meetings.
Please visit our orientation meeting page to RSVP for your 2020 Adoption Orientation meeting. They are generally scheduled once a month but more often as needed. We are kicking off orientation meetings in 2020 with a Tuesday January 14th option as well as a Thursday February 13th date. Both meetings will start at 5:30 p.m. and will last as long as necessary to cover the required information and answer your questions. That could be anywhere from 90 minutes to 3 hours all depending on how the discussion goes. Feel free to bring your own favorite beverage or a meal if needed, but we will serve refreshments, delicious specialty coffee drinks, hot cocoas, tea lattes, and other beverages!
Other dates in 2020 include the first Thursday of each month:
We are looking forward to meeting you!
Support Group/Adoptive Family Meetings
These interesting meetings provide an avenue for families working with our children to come together, ask for help and to support each other. Great relationships are developed among our adoptive families which is very helpful in your lifelong adoption experience. We discuss the challenges, questions and successes happening in our families’ lives. Families also get the training required by law. Agency updates occur at these meetings as well. In 2020 these monthly meetings will generally occur the third Thursday of each month starting at 6 PM with the bolded exceptions as follows:
May 9, 10 A.M. (Birthparent Appreciation Brunch! We love help from our adoptive FamilyPartners!)
August (BIG OL’ FUN PICNIC, contact Cathy at 616.451.0245 for details!)
November 19 (THANKSGIVING POTLUCK!)
December (HOLIDAY PARTY!)
